My fellow Americans, your personal freedoms and liberties that you take for granted are in grave danger of being eroded even further with the introduction of S.733 (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-773) and S.788 (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-778).

These bills will grant the White House sweeping new powers to access private online data, regulate the cyber security industry and even shut down internet traffic during a declared “cyber emergency.” Senate Bills S.733 and S.788 introduced by Senator Jay Rockefeller, D. W.V., are both part of what is being called the Cyber Security Act of 2009, which would create a new office of a National Cyber Security  Advisor reporting directly to the President and charged with defending the country from cyber attacks.  Pay attention here…..another “advisor” reporting directly to the President.

So what all of this really means is, the White House can order companies to disclose information and possibly take control of their networks and computers, if the President declares them “critical” to an emergency involving the internet. The bigger and more important question is, why the government should be taking control over private networks? But…… they didn’t hesitate over private business, did they?

A working draft of this legislation (http://cdt.org/security/CYBERSEC4.pdf ) obtained by an Internet privacy group also spells out plans to grant the Secretary of Commerce access to all privately owned information networks deemed to be critical to the nation’s infrastructure without regard to any provision of law, regulation rule or policy restricting such access. Do you trust this administration with authority over private networks?  Again, in the inter-circle of the President’s “Czar”, “Advisor” roundtable who defines what this “emergency” is and what constitutes a “critical network”?

Looking at some of the specifics:

• president to “declare a cyber security emergency” in regards to “non-governmental” networks and do whatever they feel is necessary.
• include a federal certification program for “cyber security professionals”
• requirement that some computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded a cyber security professional license
• Section 201: permits the president to “direct the national response to the cyber threat” if necessary for “the national defense and security.”
• White House will engage in “periodic mapping” of private networks deemed to be critical, and those companies “shall share” requested information with the federal government. “Cyber” is defined as anything having to do with the Internet, telecommunications, computers, or computer networks
• If your company is considered “critical”, you get regulated. Who you can hire, what info you must disclose, and when the government can take control of your computers and network.

All it will take is an event that this administration declares to be an “emergency”, they could stir up public fear and begin quickly taking new authorities in the name of public security. These bills give them powers which they have been using for a while now monitoring the internet.

This is another violation of our 1^st Amendment rights on many levels. The U.S. Constitution is to limit the government and favors the people. The Obama Administration is trying to change this, further it is a gross violation of our privacy. Remember, the government is slow and technology is changing much faster than any government agency could handle vs. the private sector. Further, the private sector is much more equipped to handle a cyber attack and more cost effective. The only reason they are pushing this bill is…….. CONTROL. Think about it, could it have anything to do with the upcoming elections and voter fraud? Good way to keep us all in the dark.

Freedom is dying, it’s dying fast people………….get engaged. Don’t just assume that American’s won’t allow this to happen, they have to understand what IS happening. This requires EACH one of us to do our part in being aware and speaking to our families, talking to friends and neighbors. Get involved in your local Tea Parties, get involved in the 9/12 March. Donate some time and energy because this fight requires every one of us. If we all lose all our personal rights and freedoms, we will only have ourselves to blame……. this battle can be won. Take the time to write each of your Representatives and Senators, and tell them to get back to the fundamentals of the Constitution.
