Florida Tri Rail System Headed to the Floor Again
December 5, 2009 By Save America
The project has resurfaced and needs your involvement once again to halt unnecessary spending during these unprecedented economic times.
Hopefully you have been following the Florida State Legislature Special Session. Its purpose started with a bailout for the south Florida Tri-Rail system and a Obama/Charlie Crist stimulus check to start Central Florida Commuter Rail. Then it morphed into the Florida Rail Enterprise project.
This will be a big new Florida bureaucratic money pit. It was enough to get FL State Sen. Carey Baker to abruptly change his support of SunRail (the fancy name for Central Florida Commuter Rail), into a defiant NO VOTE.
The big wigs are now in full arm twisting mode. Calls are being made to buy votes for this boondoggle.
To add insult to injury FL State Sen. President Jeff Atwater has had to add one more senator to a committee JUST TO GET THIS MEASURE TO THE FLOOR FOR A VOTE! That’s because he found that the committee was deadlocked on whether to even recommend the Florida Rail Enterprise! So Atwater did what all good politicians do: if you can’t win a fair vote, you stuff the ballot box.
It is up to conservative Republicans to stand up for the taxpayer and say enough is enough. This has been voted down twice in two years’ previous sessions. Residents of central Florida have consistently voted against this in both referendums and straw polls.
Here’s what you can do:
Get to Orlando, Fl. (Dec. 7) where we will have a charter bus waiting early Monday morning to whisk you to Tallahassee. Once there we will meet eye ball to eye ball with senators from around the state.
We’ll tell them in no uncertain terms that taxpayers can’t afford another handout, bailout, or whatever you want to call it.
Then there will be an important press conference with FL State Sen. Paula Dockery. Finally there will be a huge Tea Party Rally with Americans for Prosperity state chairman Adam Guillette, Ax The Tax chairman Doug Guetzloe, and Florida Taxpayer Union spokesman John Hallman.

You can also call
Senator Victor Crist (813) 975-6658 and (850) 487-5068
Senator Nancy Detert (941) 480-3547 and (850) 487-5081
They have been identified as possibly switching to a no vote! Make these two calls!
Sincerely,
